We know hemp seed oil is great for our skin, but what about our skin conditions? It is estimated that atopic dermatitis, or eczema, affects 35 million Americans. So many battle to find something to help and often use prescription or steroid treatment. But what if there was a natural solution? There is. Hemp seed oil.
I have been fighting eczema for years now, prescription after prescription, nothing worked. Hemp seed oil was a game changer for me. Was this luck? I began researching and found that this was more than luck, it was science. In a study done in 2005, hemp seed oil was tested with patients with atopic dermatitis. Hemp seed oil and olive oil were compared in a 20-week randomized, single-blind crossover study with atopic patients. Through this process patients filled out questionnaires on skin dryness, itchiness, and usage of dermal medications. Skin trans-epidermal water loss was also scientifically measured. In hemp seed oil patients, trans-epidermal water loss decreased, and sin dryness and itchiness improved. Dermal medication usage also decreased after hemp seed oil intervention. This study concluded that hemp seed oil caused significant changes in plasma fatty acid profiles and improved clinical symptoms of atopic dermatitis. These improvements resulted from the balanced and abundant supply of omega‐6 and omega‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in this hempseed oil.
Although nothing is promised, many can attest that hemp seed oil changed their atopic dermatitis for the better. When trying this out, be sure to use the spot method first to check your body’s reaction. Have you tried hemp seed oil for your eczema? Let us know!
